The pictures of Stolen Moments are part of a photo collection of Geishas taken in Kyoto during her two months stay in Japan in 2008

This photo serie is a fanciful tribute to this humble Chinese mop. Under Emmy Schoorl keen lens this everyday object becomes an expression of the diversity and depth of contemporary domestic culture. No mop is exactly the same; each one is beautiful and unrepeatable. You will get a fresh look at cleaning from now on and even going to see the beauty of the mops.

The beauty of mops
Every family owns a mop. They embellish streets, homes and courtyards in every province. Mops can be found in every colour, shape and environment. The mops of Shanghai are different to the mops of Beijing or the ones you found in Southern China.

Mops are endemic in this countrry, hanging in trees, resting against fences, leaning on walls, showing off in the street, laying on roofs and hanging on bikes, enjoying the sun. If they are not resting then they are working - from sinks they sashay to the toilets, flopping donw the stairs, swinging over floors, rubbing over concrete. They live everywhere: palaces, monasteries and temples, houses and huts, schools and offices.
They have a busy but short life cycle. Colours fade, strips of cloth wear thin, and their wooden handles break and they are left forgotten. These pictures celebrate their story!

A photo exbibition about life around the monasteries in Tibet and East-Tibet. The pitures varies of the people, the monks and details of life around the monasteries. It shows the pelgrims & the nomads coming to the monasteries and walking their 'kora' round around the temple and turning the prayer wheels. The hands of monks blessing a 'ghau', a travel altar (or amulet) of Tibetans. You see the burning butterlamps which you can find inside the monasteries. It shows not only a series of portraits of old and young monks in color and in black & white, but also dancing monks and it has an outstanding picture of football playing novices. Beautiful pictures which show the special connection that Emmy has with Tibet and the Tibetan people.

Shoes live! What you were is wat you are and in this case shoes + legs are telling the life story. If you see the shoes + legs of somebody,  you can say a lot of his lifestyle or even about his personality. Shoes are not merely objects to cover your feet, but are sometimes even seen as sensuous, mood-changing talismans. The shoes are a way of expressing a person's life. It represents a mood, the personal sense of style, and the stage of life of the owner. The exhibition is about contrasts in life styles, ages and in cultures. The pictures tell you a story.
